What is Net2Phone?

Net2Phone is the newest technological breakthrough in telecommunications that makes possible long distance calls from your computer to any telephone in the world. What makes Net2Phone so different and exclusive?

Most communications applications over the Internet, many of which allow voice and even video transmittal, require that both the originator and the recipient of the call have fast, multimedia-ready computers, connected to the Internet at the same time and running the same communications software. Products like Net Meeting and Internet Phone are very sophisticated chat that allows voice and even video, but are not telephony applications.

How Net2Phone works ?

Net2Phone enables any Internet user with a sound-equipped PC to initiate calls from a computer and transmit them over the Internet to IDT's central telephone switch. The switch instantly and automatically relays the call to its final destination - any telephone. The result is real time, uninterrupted, full duplex voice communication between two parties.

The procedure is as follows:

1. The user connects to his Internet Service Provider making a local call via Dial-up.
2. Once connected he opens the Net2Phone program. A telephone appears in the screen.
3. Dial the desired number as if you where dialing from the United State. To call New York first dial 1-(212) and then the desired number. To call anywhere else in the world dial 011 then the country code followed by the city code and finally the desired number.
4. Net2Phone routes the call to our server in New Jersey
5. The call is then switched to the United States' public telephony infrastructure and dials the phone number

6. The call reaches its final destination at US rates.

What are the benefits of Net2Phone?

Net2Phone Net2Phone reduces by much the cost of Long Distance calls. You may save upto 100% . if you call toll free numbers in the United States or Canada from anywhere in the world.

Rates are independent from the place that the call originates. You reach our server in New Jersey through a combination of a local call and the Internet. We charge you only for the last stretch of the call that originates in the United States. A call from anywhere in the world to the United States costs US$0.15 at peak time (7 AM to 7 PM US Eastern Time) and US$0.10 off peak (7 PM to 7 AM US Eastern Time). A call to Britain from anywhere in the world costs US$0.18 24 hours a day.

With Net2Phone any telephone in the world can be accessed from your computer bypassing PC to PC technologies that require both parties to have multimedia computers, compatible software and Internet connections. Only the originating party needs a multimedia computer connected to the Internet. Any 28.8 bps dial up connection is sufficient.

Moreover, unlike other PC-to-Phone technology, Net2Phone does not require the purchase of any servers at the phone location. The only charge is for the call itself.
